Eastridge holds Family Fun and Fitness Fair

Eastridge Baptist Church of Red Oak held a Family Fun and Fitness Fair Saturday, March 1 with the following organizations participating: Baylor Scott & White Palliative Care, Be The Match, Carter BloodCare, Cruisers Club, Eastridge Baptist Children’s Ministry – AWANAS, Eastridge Baptist Missions Ministry Team, Eastridge Baptist Preschool, North Ellis County Outreach, North Texas Fitness & Therapy Center, Red Balloon Run & Ride (Team Isabella/Children’s Medical Center), Red Oak Fire Rescue, Red Oak Police Department, Victim Relief Ministries of Ellis County and Waxahachie Funeral Home.

“Combining the AWANAS Grand Prix and Car Show with a health fair and blood drive proved to be a tremendous outreach,” stated Ruth Webb who serves on the Missions Ministry Team at Eastridge Baptist. Webb together with children’s minister Paul Raack, planned for a fun-filled day of activity for families of all ages.

In addition to outdoor bounce houses and vintage car show, kids enjoyed a close-up view of a police car and fire engine, courtesy of the City of Red Oak. Saturday’s beautiful weather was a real bonus for the entire event, bringing out close to 300 people.

“Due to the success of the mobile blood drive, Eastridge Baptist anticipates hosting regular community drives in the future,” Webb noted. “We were thrilled to meet a projection of 16 collected units with Carter BloodCare, particularly with the critical blood shortage related to the harsh winter weather we have seen this year.”

To meet recipient demand, 1,100 donors are needed daily.
