The Red Oak Lady Hawks soccer traveled to Mansfield ISD Vernon Newsom’s stadium to meet up against the Burleson Centennial Lady Spartans in the Region II 5A Girls Bi-District round of the state girls soccer playoffs.

The biggest factor both teams had to overcome were the 25-35 mph southerly winds blowing across the turf.

The Lady Hawks, 3rd seed out of District 10 5A facing the 4th seed Lady Spartans scored first into the wind and never stopped. They scored later on in the 1st half to go 2-0 and were clearly the more aggressive team. In the 2nd half, with the wind at their back, they took the 2nd half touch and scored in less than 60 seconds going up 3-0. They would score again midway through the 2nd half and with a 4-0 lead, they just played against the clock.

Centennial did get a goal with under 5 minutes left in the game, but it was far too late.

The Lady Hawks got the win and now play Thursday evening at Kincaide Stadium in Dallas against Molina HS (District 12) in the Area round. The Lady Jaguars were District 12 5A Champions. Game starts at 6 p.m.
